BTS-Inspired Pre-Nuptial Video~
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?
After attending the Epilogue concert in Manila in 2016, I was so hyped that I watched the videos my friend and I took during the concert so many times. As I was a person who really wanted to express my feelings, I showed every video to my boyfriend (now husband).
Dope was a crowd favorite since they performed it on extended stage where I was around 2 to 3 rows from the stage. Forever Young was also performed back then, which made my heart melt and sad at the same time, thinking about the message of the song. Love is not Over and House of Cards were my most favorite, and of course, Butterfly.
When I was watching the video of Butterfly taken during the concert, I heard Sydi hum the song. Then the chorus came, ‘Butterfly, like a butterfly, machi butterfly bu-bu- butterfly cheorom’. Then on the next chorus, he sang too but in back up vocals!!!!! I was like, ‘Wow! Do you like this song?’ He hesitated but then nodded. I was like ‘Yehey! We have a new song for the next competition!’ So, what competition I was talking about? It was Kpop Singing Star segment in Philippine Kpop Convention usually held in December. It was supposedly our second time to compete. He accepted my request then we practiced singing and playing instruments for that song. I played the piano while he played the guitar. I did the main vocals while he did the backup vocals so it was like a duet!

HOW DID YOU DECIDE TO DO A PRE-NUPTIAL VIDEO THAT IS BTS-INSPIRED?
I am really fond of anything personalized especially if it is for a very memorable day like my Wedding Day! So I told my boyfriend that what if we sing for the Pre-nuptial video that we would be making? He agreed and told me to choose on the songs that we already practiced. Then he said that he liked ‘You are My Song’, an OPM (Original Philippine Music) sang by Regine Velasquez and the song we usually sing in the videoke (video karaoke). I agreed then suggested to include BTS’ Butterfly as well because for some reason, we were not able to perform this one on the contest and we were doing the Butterfly Cover Project since 2016. I felt like it would be so regrettable if we would not be able to perform this song, despite the efforts we exerted the past 2 years. He agreed so we came up with an OPM song and a BTS song for our Pre-Nuptial Video.
WHAT PREPARATIONS DID YOU MAKE?
We did recordings for the music! First, we recorded the instruments. I played the piano part while my boyfriend did the guitar part. It took us around 2 weeks to make the instrumentals to make sure there were no mistakes. Then the vocals. Another 2 weeks was allotted to master the vocals and the instruments together.
To make our pre-nuptial video successful, we hired a videographer for it. Ate Ge, our family friend (my now daughter’s ninang), did the directing. I told her my ideas while she combined it with hers which were discussed with us beforehand. Eya, my very close friend (also the ninang of my daughter now), helped me prepare from outfit to decorations and gave me moral support not just in the shoot but for other preparations as well.
As a fan of BTS, I would definitely want ARMY Bomb on that video! Because I have not gotten my ARMY Bomb yet by that time, I borrowed ARMY Bomb ver. 1 and ver. 2 from my dear friend and concert buddy, Cla, to use it for our photo/video shoot. She agreed, so we were all set.
Watch out for the ARMY Bomb Cameo there!
BTS – INSPIRED PRENUPTIAL VIDEO (BUTTERFLY) + OPM (YOU ARE MY SONG)
This pre-nuptial video would not be possibe without the blood, sweat and tears coming from the persons behind it. So, I was so thankful that the video came out much more than what we expected.
I hope you guys could watch and enjoy this as well because this video contains a big part of my husband and I’s heart and soul.
Note: Our Butterfly cover is so much different from the original, for this one is our very own version and interpretation of the song.
