October 9 is Hangeul Day - Korean Vocabulary

Learn about the vocabularies about Hangeul Day through the video above~

Did you know that October 9 is considered as public holiday in Korea when they commemorate the creation of their writing system called Hangeul (한글) or the Korean Alphabet. It was created by King Sejong (세종 대왕) who was the King during Joseon Dynasty.

Before his time, the writing system was in Chinese which was difficult for most of the people. But since the great King Sejong invented a writing system for his people, which they could call their own, they rejoiced!

VOCABULARIES IN THE VIDEO

한글날 - pronounced as 'Hangeul Lal' which means Hangeul Day

10월9일 - pronounced as 'Shiwol Gu-il' which means October 9

세종대왕 - pronounced as 'Sejong Dewang' which means King Sejong
